Telescopic rails for rail & public transport

Rolling stock is a 40-year vibration test with scheduled maintenance windows measured in minutes. VT rails put underfloor converters, battery boxes and interior modules on smooth full-extension travel — shock-rated and corrosion-protected for the track environment.

What the application demands

The engineering constraints that drive series selection — and how the VT range answers them.

vibration

Decades of vibration

Rail duty means permanent broadband vibration plus shunt shocks. VT-P is designed for shock and intensive cycling; preloaded executions eliminate fretting rattle.

rainy

The underfloor environment

Brake dust, salt spray and washing chemistry attack everything under the car. Zinc-nickel and E-coat finishes with stainless balls keep the mechanism serviceable between overhauls.

schedule

Maintenance-window economics

A battery swap has to happen inside the timetable. Full-extension sets bring the module clear of the car body — no crane gymnastics, no disassembly.

Recommended VT series

Start with these families; the configurator weighs your exact load, stroke and length against the whole range.

Technical fit

Range-wide execution options relevant to this industry.

Working speed
≤ 0.8 m/s (derates with length) · max accel 1.2 m/s²
Surface coatings
Zinc per ISO 2081 (standard) · zinc-nickel · nickel · E-coat on request
Lubrication
Medium lithium grease; re-lube every 100 km or 6 months. FDA, cleanroom, marine & temperature greases on request.
Load basis
Telescopic series per pair of rails · VT-L per carriage

Frequently asked questions

Are the rails suitable for railway shock and vibration requirements?expand_more

The range is engineered for shock and intensive-cycling duty (VT-P explicitly for crash-test applications); we support verification against your shock/vibration category and supply preloaded, rattle-free executions.

How are underfloor slides protected against corrosion?expand_more

Zinc per ISO 2081 standard, upgradeable to zinc-nickel, nickel or E-coat, plus stainless balls and marine greases — chosen per exposure and encoded in the part number.

Can a battery module be extracted fully outside the car body?expand_more

Yes — VT-H heavy-duty sets and VT-X I-beam rails provide 100 %+ extension at full module weight, with capacities quoted per pair of rails.

What about fire-safety requirements (EN 45545)?expand_more

The rails are all-steel with metallic finishes; grease quantities are minimal. We provide material declarations for your EN 45545 assessment on request.
